All in all I think it came out fairly well … I know my client was ecstatic about it because about 3 minutes after I delivered it I got a text message from her saying that she thought the cake was incredible :) Now that is definitely a good way to start off a weekend!!

There’s times where I just love working with chocolate. Luckily – tonight was one of those nights! I got to experiment with “painting” the German Shepherd in chocolate to place on top of this tasty carrot cake with vanilla coconut cream cheese frosting. I can vouch for the cake since I made some extra for Jay & I … mmmm. Vegetables in cake … it’s HEALTHY!

Here’s the latest cake … a light yellow almond sponge filled with orange curd and frosted in almond buttercream. Since my Grandmother’s favorite flowers are hydrangeas, I figured those would do the trick here.

Hopefully there will just be this ONE cake this year. Last year there were THREE giant identical cakes for the family who considers a slice to be approximately 1 mm in thickness. That’s a story for another day however.

The infamous noodles my Grandmother needs at any Chinese birthday celebration for good luck are in the fridge as well – “sesame” noodles made with peanut butter, sesame seeds, fresh ginger, fresh garlic, hot sauce, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, bell peppers, seeded cukes, bean sprouts, scallions and topped with peanuts and cilantro.
